What The Heck Is Going On With The Oakland Raiders??

Ok, so does anyone besides me think that Al Davis has really, really lost it. I mean Davis has always been an interesting NFL owner but this is getting out of hand. Only 8 games into a 7 year/70 million dollar deal the Raiders released him. Now understand, while Hall has struggled this season giving up more yards than any other defender this year according to STATS LLC, he is a two time Pro Bowl CB having back to back appearances in 2005 and 2006.

This was a long time ago, I think its time to let somebody else run the team Al

This in and of it self would be weird but when you start pay attention to some of these other rumors coming out of Oakland it starts to get really disturbing. There is word that WR Javon Walker, who also signed a huge deal in the off-season could be let go as well as several others. Davis, looking ahead to the rest of the season and to 2009, asked his staff to study a list of potential players who could be let go before the end of the week or after the season, sources said.

One source said the list included more than a dozen names. The front-office staff studied the salary-cap consequences of releasing high-priced veteran players. Davis also wanted his staff to see if other teams might claim any of these players on waivers. All I wanna know is what is Al Davis thinking? He can’t be thinking this is in any way good for the franchise. To be a contender in free agency players have to want to play for your franchise and that is directly tied to how you treat your current players. If this keeps up, I would bet that this is the last big name free agent that will sign with the Raiders for a while no matter how much money they offer.

No one really seems to want to say it, but I will, has Al Davis finally lost his marbles? The decisions that he is making right now are beyond comprehension. The only logical explanation is that he has lost control of his faculuties. The problem is that as the owner no one in the Raiders organization can step and tell him any different, but the commissioner can. I think that if any other releases are made by the Raiders, especially big name players with big contracts I think that Roger Goodell needs to be on a plane to Oakland to talk to Al Davis in person and let him know that this is not the way an NFL franchise will be run in his league. I mean this is new terrirotry, players have gone off the deep end before but never an owner. What Al Davis is doing right now is not good for the Raiders or for the game. Somebody needs to stop him, but the sad things is I dont think anyone will at least not until its too late.

I mean I don’t know if this is a cost cutting move due to the economy and the Raiders organization is in more trouble than they let on. This may be another sign that California doesn’t need more than one team. I guess that we will just have to wait and see but I don’t think it will get any better. What do you think?
