I woke up this morning and what do you know it seems that after the Charlotte Hornets acquired Antonio Daniels from the Wizards for Mike James and others the trade frenzy has begun.

He can jump, but can he actually help the Suns win?
On late Wednesday night the Suns traded Raja Bell and Boris Diaw to the Bobcats on Wednesday as part of a deal for Jason Richardson. The 6-foot-6 Richardson is a two-time NBA slam dunk champion and an accomplished 3-point shooter who is averaging 18.7 points this season and 18.8 for his pro career. Rookie point guard Sean Singletary also went to Charlotte, while the Suns got small forward Jared Dudley and a 2010 second-round draft pick.
Now looking at the deal, does any besides me think that the Suns just made out like bandits. I man really the Bobcats basically gave their leading scorer, J-Rich, away for nothing. They got Bell who is a decent role player and backup for Nash at the point and Diaw who should probably slide into the starting line up at PF in place of an ineffective Sean May. They also picked up Sean Singletary but I doubt he will be a factor this year and looks like a career backup.

Boris Diaw (left) and Raja Bell (right) aren’t the answer in Charlotte.
On the other hand, the Sun picked up a proven scorer to take some of the load off of Amare and Shaq. This should free up Steve Nash to be the conductor that he has always been and should instantly make the Suns a forceĀ to be reckoned with. They also picked up the young versatile forwared Jared Dudley who has some real talent and was not being fully utilized in Charlotte. Dudley, a 6-foot-7 second-year pro, started seven games for Charlotte this season.
It’s hard to understand this deal so I won’t even try, but this seems to be up there with the giveaway that Memphis did last year when they traded Pau Gasol to the Lakers for practically nothing. A trade is supposed to serve a purpose to either get better or clear cap space, but for the Bobcats this does neither.
