The Oklahoma City Thunder have acquired center Tyson Chandler from New Orleans in a deal that sends veterans Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox to the Hornets. The 7-foot-1 Chandler has averaged 8.8 points and 8.3 rebounds this season. The Hornets also got the rights to DeVon Hardin, a second-round pick out of California in last year’s draft.
That’s all well and good but am I the only person that is wondering why in the world the Cavs didn’t try to acquire Chandler. Chandler has just the size and defensive presence that the Cavs need in the middle right now. If Chandler was playing in an offense like Cleveland’s, he could definitely boost his numbers to a very solid 15ppg and 9rpg. As you can see, OKC basically got Chandler for a song and if that was the case the Cavs definitely had enough pieces to get this deal done. So my question is this, I am sure that they were aware that he was available and they chose to pass so what does that mean? Does this mean that Cleveland is working on an even bigger deal? Could they surprise everyone and sign Amare? Guess we will know in a few days.
